Mission
We are nature-based educators, offering an educational program that explores nature-based curriculum and natural connection. Elizabeth’s Garden will educate and engage Early Childhood Educators on the child’s basic human rights to play while experiencing a positive affiliation with the natural world and making connections that will follow them in their daily lives.
Vision
EG creates learning environments that promote recreational activities designed to engage teachers, families and communities to venture outdoors. It shall create a platform for the community via community gardens, outdoor events, workshops, and gardening education.
Elizabeth’s Garden demonstrates the importance of connecting children with nature at an early age by being physically active outdoors, enjoying unstructured play, and eating fresh healthy unprocessed foods. Elizabeth’s garden currently operates on a 1.5 acre outdoor venue located in the heart of east and southeast Raleigh, NC.
Named in loving memory of our community educator, Elizabeth D. Winston, our space encompasses the holistic outdoor venue experience, including flower and produce gardens, animals, animals, children play spaces, gazebos, shelter, space, and so much more.
Founded by a group of nature based learning educators.
Objectives
- EG was established to better serve community wellness, self sufficiency, education and access to resources by reestablishing our innate connection to the natural world.
- All our objectives align with the programs we use to better impact underserved communities.
We believe for children and families to learn through nature, creating safe spaces to do so, and providing communities resources to organize the way they see fit.
